Some people talk the talk, but when you need someone to walk the walk, look no further than Cathy Holt.
Cathy is a Utah native and University of Utah graduate. She and her husband raised their family in the San Francisco Bay Area, but after 17 years, their love of family and the outdoors brought them back to Utah. She’s a winter skier and snowshoer and spends the other three seasons paddle boarding, hiking, cycling, running, swimming, and water skiing.
With nearly two decades of experience in financial management, project management, grant writing, grant management, and nonprofit fundraising, Cathy has an impressive resume that matches her values. “All are welcome in our community,” she said, “Our doors are open to the homeless, the addict, and those pushed aside as undeserving.”
The empathy that Cathy brings to work every day is unmatched, informed partly by her family history of substance abuse that left her with a passion to find new, creative ways to make the world more inclusive, accessible, and equitable. More importantly, she knows that the best things come from diverse environments, and she seeks out diverse opinions and ideas to find the best solution. Of working with The Other Side Academy, she said, “The Other Side Academy’s students, staff, and board are the most diverse bunch I’ve ever had the honor to work alongside. We are stronger because of those differences.”
In her work for a variety of nonprofits with budgets ranging from $2 million to $25 million annually, Cathy was awarded grants totaling millions of dollars from local and national foundations, corporations, and even city, state, and federal governments. Writing grants and securing funds to support deserving people, programs, and projects around Utah is what Cathy does best.
