Building the Village

Our Foundations: The Where, What, and How of Building The Village

From the Ground Up

We’ve done significant research, feasibility studies, and 3rd party site testing and determined that a site on Indiana Avenue in Salt Lake City would fit our needs. In our search we looked East, West, North and South. The Indiana Avenue parcel was one of the very few large enough.

  • We evaluated every possible property:
    • Close enough to downtown
    • Can’t remove green space
    • Can’t be in airport overlay
    • Must be large enough to house 430 home and community buildings
    • Utilities must be readily available
    • Must have good access to UTA
    • Room for social enterprises and community amenities

What Will the Cottage-style Houses Be Like?

Home rendering approximately 400 sq ft cottages

Our homes will provide approximately 400 square feet to each resident. In addition, each resident will get their own private space.

Each home will include a bedroom, a living space, a bathroom with a shower, and a kitchen with appliances.

Residents will arrive at their new home with full furnishings, a fridge full of food, and a bathroom with toiletries and supplies. This house will be theirs for the rest of their lives if they want to stay.

How Will You Fund The Village?

We are seeking donations from foundations, corporations, and private citizens to cover the capital costs of building out the Village. We hope to work with various land-owning entities, including government entities that may have access to land that they can donate or make available through a long-term lease. We will also seek to raise funds to cover our operational costs until we can break even through our social enterprises.

Once we launch and are in operation, we plan on reaching self-sufficiency to cover our operational expenses through the revenues generated from our social enterprises, so we do not have to be reliant upon ongoing donations or operating funds for donations.
